Normally, I try to theme these Droughtlander Survival Guide entries, but let’s face it, most of the time life is not some neatly organized list, and my interests very greatly depending on my mood. So, without further ado, here are 4 things I’ve been entertaining myself with during Droughtlander.
The romanticized, version of the Jacobite conflict which spanned 50+ years of Scottish history, tends to oversimplify things, and as the story has been told and retold down through the generations, opinions and third-hand accounts have now been cemented in many people’s minds as fact. The Battle of Culloden is a great example of a tall tale growing taller. So, let’s dive a little deeper into what we actually know about the Battle of Culloden and the events surrounding it.
From Scotland, to Paris, and back again, season two covers a lot of ground, and out of all the characters that grace the screen in these 13 jam-packed episodes, I think it is safe to say that Jamie has the biggest arc. Join me as I run down the list of Jamie’s 5 most character defining moments!
Welcome back for the finale of Outlander Book Club!! This week it's all about Part Seven: "Sanctuary". All eight novels of the Outlander series are absolute roller coaster rides, but the last few chapters of book one are something special in the way of emotional torment. Will they make it in time to save Jamie from the noose? Hmmmm... I don't know. Keep reading to find out... *wink wink.
The prodigal son returns this week, and in true Outlander style, Jamie's homecoming is fraught with all the turmoil and drama of a long-running Soap on day-time TV. I can't wait to break it all down for you, so let's get started!!
This week I'm discussing Part 4 of Outlander: "A Whiff of Brimstone" where the ever-growing plot thickens. The Duke of Sandringham has arrived. Claire is still avoiding a decision between Frank and Jamie. Dougal has done something stupid...again, and Geillis is busy being Geillis, but do you smell that? I think someone decided to throw gasoline on the fire... Buckle up, Buttercups. It's gonna be a bumpy ride!
This week, I'm taking a look at the second half of Part Three: "On The Road", and if last week's reading was all about basking in the after glow of their wedding, this week is all about what happens when two fiery personalities collide. Join me as I dive into some of the key moments between Jamie and Claire this week that signify the continuing growth of their relationship!
The first few chapters of Part Three, "On The Road" encompass some of my favorite parts of Book 1 including The Wedding and The Wedding Night. It's a story that never gets old, and I'm looking forward to discussing it with you all!
This week in Outlander Book Club we are talking Part 2 of Outlander: "Castle Leoch". The amount of expository information in this section is unbelievable and I'm here to unpack it all for you! So pull up a chair and come on a journey with me as I talk about all the things we learned--and didn't learn--in this week's reading!
