If you haven’t guessed by the Podcast, Social Media, and Blog all by the name of The Sassenach Files, let me just tell you, I’m a HUGE Outlander fan. And having just celebrated a birthday where my entire family completely recognized and enabled my obsession, I feel I can comfortably say, there is nothing better for my fellow Outlander fans than opening an Outlander themed gift. For that reason, I’m giving you a list of five potential gifts for the Obsassenach in your life. Trust me, they’ll love them!
Welcome back for the finale of Outlander Book Club!! This week it's all about Part Seven: "Sanctuary". All eight novels of the Outlander series are absolute roller coaster rides, but the last few chapters of book one are something special in the way of emotional torment. Will they make it in time to save Jamie from the noose? Hmmmm... I don't know. Keep reading to find out... *wink wink.
The prodigal son returns this week, and in true Outlander style, Jamie's homecoming is fraught with all the turmoil and drama of a long-running Soap on day-time TV. I can't wait to break it all down for you, so let's get started!!
This week I'm discussing Part 4 of Outlander: "A Whiff of Brimstone" where the ever-growing plot thickens. The Duke of Sandringham has arrived. Claire is still avoiding a decision between Frank and Jamie. Dougal has done something stupid...again, and Geillis is busy being Geillis, but do you smell that? I think someone decided to throw gasoline on the fire... Buckle up, Buttercups. It's gonna be a bumpy ride!
This week, I'm taking a look at the second half of Part Three: "On The Road", and if last week's reading was all about basking in the after glow of their wedding, this week is all about what happens when two fiery personalities collide. Join me as I dive into some of the key moments between Jamie and Claire this week that signify the continuing growth of their relationship!
The first few chapters of Part Three, "On The Road" encompass some of my favorite parts of Book 1 including The Wedding and The Wedding Night. It's a story that never gets old, and I'm looking forward to discussing it with you all!
This week in Outlander Book Club we are talking Part 2 of Outlander: "Castle Leoch". The amount of expository information in this section is unbelievable and I'm here to unpack it all for you! So pull up a chair and come on a journey with me as I talk about all the things we learned--and didn't learn--in this week's reading!
This is going to be a VERY long droughtlander, and while news of season 6 is slowly starting to trickle in, filming won't be starting for AT LEAST another three months. So, in the meantime, make yourself cozy by the fire with a wee dram, and join me for an Outlander Read Along.
Since we are experiencing a shortage of new entertainment on a MASSIVE scale, I’ve been revisiting some of my favorite book to screen adaptations. Whether they are TV series or movies, Young Adult or just plain Adult , these choices had me giddy from the very first press releases, and they are all available digitally to stream if you are looking for something new to sink your teeth into.
Over the course of Season 1 alone, we see Jamie apprehended for “obstruction” and flogged within an inch of his life. Claire is arrested for witchcraft and sentenced to burn alive before Jamie comes to the rescue, and Jamie is arrested AGAIN after a run in with a group of redcoats and sentenced to hang for a murder he didn’t commit! All this got me thinking, what was life REALLY like for those on the wrong side of the law in that time?
