Over the course of Season 1 alone, we see Jamie apprehended for “obstruction” and flogged within an inch of his life. Claire is arrested for witchcraft and sentenced to burn alive before Jamie comes to the rescue, and Jamie is arrested AGAIN after a run in with a group of redcoats and sentenced to hang for a murder he didn’t commit! All this got me thinking, what was life REALLY like for those on the wrong side of the law in that time?
Much like the age old question, “Which came first, the chicken or the egg?”, Outlander fans can go in endless circles on which book in the series is “the best”. I’m here to tell you, the task of giving a definitive answer on that front doesn’t grow easier with time.
